About Us
Ethical counselling services. Professional, accessible support.
St Martin’s Counselling is a Birmingham-based charity providing professional counselling for adults across the UK.
We exist to make good counselling easier to access without reducing standards, safety, or care. Our practitioners offer confidential support within clear ethical standards, strong clinical governance, and a service culture built around dignity, trust, and human connection.
Why we exist
Many people need counselling but find themselves caught between long NHS waits and the high cost of private therapy. St Martin’s Counselling exists to stand in that gap.
As a charity, our aim is not to maximise profit or push people through a system. Our fees help sustain a safe, professional counselling service while keeping support as accessible as possible.
Accessible by design
We aim to make counselling easier to access, with clear pathways, fairer fees, and support available online across the UK or face to face in Birmingham.
Professionally governed
Our counsellors work within clear ethical standards, regular supervision, safeguarding procedures, and a clinical governance framework.
Charity-led and ethical
As a registered charity, our fees are used to sustain the service, protect quality, and support wider access to counselling.
Human, not transactional
We are not a high-volume therapy marketplace. We offer counselling as a relational service, shaped by care, judgement, and respect.
Charity-led • Confidential • Online UK-wide • Face-to-face in Birmingham
Human first - how our service is different
We provide professional counselling as a relational service, not a digital platform or high-volume marketplace.
Our work is based on
continuity of care,
thoughtful assessment,
and stable therapeutic relationships,
Rather than
automation,
rapid rotation,
or algorithm-led matching.
This allows us to prioritise quality, safety, and human judgement, while remaining accessible through clear processes and transparent fees.
Our counsellors
Counselling with St Martin’s is delivered by practitioners who meet appropriate professional standards for their role and work within recognised ethical codes.
Our team includes:
Fully qualified counsellors

All counsellors working with St Martin’s Counselling are held to the same expectations of professionalism, care, confidentiality and ethical practice, with appropriate oversight and support.
A human-centred experience
Counselling with us is designed to feel calm, steady and respectful of your pace. We focus on a confidential space where you can speak openly and reflect without pressure or judgement.
You’ll usually work with the same counsellor throughout
Sessions are shaped around your goals and what feels helpful
If something isn’t working, we’ll talk it through and adjust
Scope & boundaries
Our counselling service is for adults seeking professional psychological support for emotional, relational or life challenges, offered within the limits of our ethical and clinical governance.
We are not a crisis service and cannot provide emergency or intensive mental health care. If you are at immediate risk to yourself or others, call 999. If you need urgent support, contact NHS 111, your GP, or attend A&E.
Clear boundaries allow us to practise responsibly and ensure the support we offer is safe, appropriate and effective.
